Emerson’s chief operating officer Ed Purvis is retiring after more than three decades at the Ferguson-based company and Steve Pelch is succeeding him the role, effective Jan. 1.
Purvis, who was named COO in 2015, joined Emerson in 1983 and rose to executive vice president and business leader of Emerson Climate Technologies unit in 2008.

Pelch currently is executive vice president of organization planning and development, joined Emerson as an applications engineer in the company’s Automation Solutions business and has held corporate roles in strategic planning, human resources and organizational planning and development for the past 13 years.
