Lisa

Where are all the SEC insults? On Fox's website you keep them rolling. Now that USC has their FIRST loss, how do you feel about the mighty Trojans? The 'cupcakes'...maybe we can move USC to that list. The Pac 10 'bitter round robin' is complete with cupcakes. Pete C is not the whiniest of coaches, but since you say that 6 (out of your top 10) of the SEC coaches are big whiners, maybe that means he should be. Maybe he'd win more of the 'cupcake' games if he whined more. Seems to be working for many of the coaches you say are big whiners...

Let me know what you think,

Great article and welcome aboard!

I think ND will be bowl eligible this year. I think if USC makes it to the title game after losing all those guys who just were drafted, more power to them. To me that's unlikely.

Without Ryan Perrilloux I don't see how the LSU Tigers can expect to repeat. Even with him, it was going to be tough but now they'll have to wait at least one season to break someone in.

I don't want to see Chase Daniel mentioned for Heisman any more. - Lloyds Apple

Psychologically speaking, yes, it can be an advantage. They are the home team, and psyches have been known to be affected by that. I simply went by the home team, visiting team format, and was going over the actual schedule. Some teams actually make more of a big deal over having "home field" advantage than others. A coach may even bring it up, saying, "this is our turf, our home." You get the gist of it. Could the fact that you are a Longhorn fan be any reason why you are a bit defensive about that statement? There's only 60 miles or so difference between Norman, Oklahoma to Dallas, and Austin to Dallas. - Lisa Horne

"one team hosts another. There has to be a home and visiting team, correct?"

But your writeup makes it sounds like it's somehow advantageous that Oklahoma "hosts" Texas this year. You wrote specifically, "(OU) travel(s) only five times this year, but host(s) Texas ...and you have to like their chances with the perfect schedule." Same fan seating, same ticket allocation-- can you explain WHY you think that contributes to Oklahoma's "perfect" schedule? How is being the designated "home" team any more "perfect" than any other year in which OU plays Texas? The absolute, singular, and only difference is that OU gets to wear crimson jerseys this year. Do you really believe that contributes to their chances of victory...? - WhoooTex

Fred-

Thanks for your comments. I guess all of those cupcakes OSU feeds on had me more momentarily confused.

Jeh...hey, it's 5 pm PST, but could be subject to change....I have a feeling ESPN will make it their College Game Day featured game. Stay tuned.

Whooo....yes, it's played on a neutral turf, but every year, one team hosts another. There has to be a home and visiting team, correct? - Lisa

Oklahoma doesn't "host" Texas

The game, as always, is played at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. In the post-Vince Young era, the teams have split two meetings, one a deceivingly lopsided 28-10 Texas win in 2006 and last year's classic, an OU win. I wouldn't exactly mark that game down as being part of Oklahoma's "perfect" schedule just because they get to wear the home jerseys.

Good writeup, makes me look forward to the season-- will continue to visit if this is the quality of writing we can expect. Good stuff. - WhoooTex

Lisa: Just got the answer to my question-gametime is 8pm eastern. Re your Heisman list if Chris wells would go off against USC you have to add him to your list. I hope he goes off, but for health reasons I hope his carries are spread around during the season. - JEH45

Lisa: Welcome to DRS! Great to have a california girl on board & it ought to make the podcast before the OSU/USC game interesting. Do you know if that game is under the lights or not? Regardless, it will be a primetime early season matchup! - JEH45

Complete your fact checking next time. Ohio State plays YSU and Ohio U before USC. Not a big difference, but Troy isn't a bad team either.
And FAU? That's a laugher. - Fred
