I agree with Onearmedbandit
that the Terrelle Pryor era has started at OSU. It will be interesting
and fun to see how this proceeds into the future.
Regarding Pryor, you had to admire his pocket presence. Pryor has the ability to move up into the pocket or slide sideways while continuing to focus downfield. He was able to get the ball to the receivers. Regardless of how I see him as a thrower, I would imagine the upcoming opponents will focus on containing Pryor in the pocket and not allowing him to get outside on the run. From this corner I don't see a running back besides Beanie that a defense will scheme for or be particularly afraid of. Boom is certainly the best of the bunch. It would be an absolute pleasure to see a healthy Beanie Wells and Terrelle Pryor in the same backfield. If that happens, the defense is in trouble. Without Beanie in the lineup the Buckeyes are going hunting with a double barrel shotgun with only one barrel loaded. Saturday also saw the first start by Michael Brewster at center. Brewster didn't embarrass himself, but other than that can't really critique his performance. From this corner, we thought the Buckeye performance Saturday, while an improvement, was lackluster. Troy has a nice offense and gained a bucket load of yards against the Bucks. Our defense didn't dominate at all. Offensively we had trouble sustaining drives. We believe this will continue through the season until or unless beanie Wells gets back in the game. Having Pryor in the game was a large help to the Oline as would be the return of Beanie. With a couple of good punts field position became our friend Saturday and we took advantage of it. Shaun Lane again made a big play on special teams, this time downing a punt inside the five. It has been a pleasure watching Lane contribute when given an opportunity. We saw some Dline wrinkles such as moving Heywood down to tackle. Again, having just watched the game once, we really can't comment on the effectiveness of this move. The preseason is over. The conference is set to begin with Minnesota the first test. Regardless of what the nation may think, we think playing Troy was a good tune-up for the conference battles. Go Bucks and how about a healthy Beanie?
