Week 3 Thoughts as I think Print E-mail

I am now thinking Beanie will play. He will be an emotional lift and maybe more. I'm beginning to get strangely confident about this game. Like a friend of mine said, Jim Tressel almost has been talking biblical these days. It is my guestimation that he thnks their time is now, with or without Beanie. Maybe they've earned it but proving it could get complicated.

In other news...

Javon Ringer gained 284 yards against a solid Florida Atlantic team on a muddy Spartan field.

Purdue is beating up on Oregon but still plenty of time left in the game. A Purdue win along with a Ohio State win would be big time for the Big Ten but I don't see too many people thnking it will happen.

Notre Dame and Michigan are playing in a high scoring, mistake making, sloppy ass football game. The Irish certainly have more playmakers this year than last. They have 2-3 legit wide receivers and Clausen looks better behind an O-Line that is doing its job. Still plenty of time left in this one too.

South Carolina and Georgia are involved in a 7-6 battle, with the Gamecocks leading and looking fodr the upset. Georgia's offense is having issues against USC. It's better to lose early than late but it's never good to lose to South Carolina (who just lost to Vandy).

The USF-Kansas game was great. Huge win for USF, whose defensive line dominated the game. KU QB Todd Reesing, despite being harrassed, played incredible. Still, Matt Grothe and the Bulls played an amazing 3rd quazrter and looked the part of a tough nosed team. There were some hard hits in this game, which ended on a last second field goal for a USF victory.

I have to give props to the University of Central Florida, my alum, who narrowly lost in OT to USF a week ago, There are no moral victories but in my estimation UCF has a top 20 defense this year. Hopefully the offense catches up and open up some eyes. IMO, it's just a matter of time until the 6th largest university gets a Big East football invite.
