I am eagerly awaiting my Ohio State vs. YSU Bit Torrent to finish downloading so I can watch the game. When that happens I'll discuss it. The Chris Wells injury is troublesome. What I am hearing is that he is waiting on MRI results. Apparently there is still some pain but message boarders seem upbeat. We'll see.... But there is a world of news from Saturday and it's about time I post my random musings, including ACC struggles, Big 10 Struggles, SEC dominance, USC dominance and an age-old question.....so what the fuck else is new?
Newsflash: LSU is better than Appalachian State. Utah is better than Michigan. I don't know, it's worth noting. Also, UF is much better than Hawaii. Alabama apparently OWNS Clemson. The ACC is has not been very good for a couple of years now. This is mainly because FSU and Miami have been down in the dumps. Really the ACC was always weak, with the exception of FSU, for a really long time. I've got a prediction for everyone: Miami is about the take control of the ACC. Right now it's up for grabs and both FSU and Miami have a shot at reclaiming what they once assumed would always be a epic between the two when Miami joined the ACC. Miami HC Randy Shannon is now in his second season, with a tough freshman class seeing playing time all over the board. Many of these top recruits are from Miami Northwestern HS, so they bring some consistency when playing together and in big games. Next Saturdays game at Gainesville will show how "ready" Miami is for the big stage. If they lose but it's a good game, they will be my ACC front runner. An ACC title and BCS Bowl appearance would bring Shannon credibility and he could own the Miami area recruiting scene. Then, watch out ACC! UF is looming large and while the idea of Miami winning is fun, it also should not be believed. Florida is better, with experience at key positions, including the man himself, Tim Tebow. Florida's big weakness is the defensive backfield but as green as the Hurricane QB's are, I don't see the effectively testing the pass defense. If they do find a way to move the ball on offense and the "defensive speed" on Miami I've been hearing about contains Tebow and the Urban Meyer offense things could get complicated. But by my early estimations, I've got UF by 10. Just close enough to give Miami the nod in the ACC. The Big 10 had 3 big games where I thought they could win and lost. Missouri out paced Illinois to a 10 point win (52-4). Michigan State had their chances against Cal but came up short in typical MSU fashion. I actually thought MSU might win this one. Then you have Michigan, who was favored by 3 or 4 points, plays the worst 1st half of football in the first have, only to comeback, and fall short in the end. Utah did what they could to lose but Michigan has nothing on offense that can pull off Rich Rods scheme. So yeah, in sum, the Big 10 is still in the proverbial outhouse and the only saving grace is Ohio State vs. USC. I know what you are thinking and concur, "good luck with that." Speaking of USC, I'm hoping to get a game report from Wade Peery, who went to the Cavalier massacre at the hands of the relentless Trojans. Truly nobody shines brighter than the california kids, Ohio State will have to get them dirty to have a chance. And when I say "them" I'm really talking about QB Mark Sanchez. More on that immediately following next Saturday's games. The SEC looked, as Les Miles would say, "Damn Good" in Week 1. As I noted ealier... LSU is better than Appalachian State. UF is much better than Hawaii. Alabama apparently OWNS Clemson. We expected the first 2 but the fact 'Bama drilled Clemson is impressive. South Carolina and the rest took care of business. All hail. So, as I posed what the fuck else is new? Apparently not much and that's what makes me wonder about the OSU-USC match-up. USC has owned the Big 10. But again, more on that another day.
