Speaking about the games beginning, the Olympics kick off tonight and my interest level is not there. For me, I am looking forward to the start of the games because there is almost nothing on TV I want to watch so the Olympics will give me something to in the evening besides fishing and drinking. I'm probably a jerk, but I really don't care to learn anymore about China than I already know, and, by the way-it is smoggy over there. Recently read Notre Dame has only sold out two games so far this season. Again, guess if you pull yourself away from the hype, you can gauge real interest in a program by butts in the seats. As fans we have been dealt a hand of cards, encouraged by how the BCS works, and maybe fans everywhere should be like the Notre Dame fans and say we will come, but only if you play someone worth watching. As a fan of college football I would have anticipated the start of the Notre Dame season to see if Charlie can start to get it done, but where I sit right now, if Notre Dame starts to have success I won't know if it is because ND is getting it done or if the schedule has just been dumbed down enough they can't help to win. My team, the Buckeyes, will be starting the season with crazy expectations. Last year the Buckeyes played in the National Championship game. If you follow the team you would know that per the master plan this was the year that was supposed to happen, not last. The fact that it happenned last year only raises the bar for this years squad. It has just been reported that Cornerback Donald Washington, and Safety Jamario O'Neal will miss the first two games for dicipliniary reasons. DT Doug Worthington recently got a DUI. Don't know his fate yet. I would really like to get pissed at these guys, but I know what Worthington blew and had I been trested I would have beat him the other night. I do not know what Washington and O'Neal did, but do suspect that neither is public enemy number one. On to the guys who will be playing, Chris Wells should be a pleasure to watch this year. He is a very talented running back. In the early games I hope we do more of a tailback by committee because the Buckeyes will need a healthy Chris Wells down the road. Count me in the camp who believes Todd Boeckman can lead the Buckeyes to the promised land. Don't misunderstand, I do not see Todd as the second coming as say a Jimmy Clausen of Notre Dame, but do see him as very capable of taking the Buckeyes in their system to where they need to go. It is appearing that the recruiting stuff we heard during the recruitment of Terrelle Pryor may actually be true. Everything one hears coming from the Buckeye camp supports the idea that Terrelle will be a contributor this year. I don't want to minimize the contributions of Tim Tebow to the Gators when he was a freshman, but I hope the Pryor role with the Buckeyes is more a Tebow plus from a scheme standpoint. Writing this article from South Florida I can tell you that Comcast is telling me the Big Ten Network will not be offered in my area this year. Thanks again Big Ten and Comcast. I really appreciate the opportunity to go to more bars on weekends. Got to go. Will check in later.

| speaking of hype...how's "weenie" Wells doing so far? Typical used car salesman Tressel hims and haws all week about the "injury" and then pulls the plug the day before the game...have to think Slick Pete is laughing his arse off out in Cali at the games...hope it isn't too ugly. | |
