While previewing the 2008 MLB season, it occurred to me just how wonderful (and historic) the season was in 2007.

Considering just a few of the season's highlights: Barry Bonds braking the all-time homerun record, A-Rod and Frank Thomas smashing career homeruns number 500 and Trevor Hoffman collecting his 500th save, 2007 is going to be a tough act to follow.

Here's a closer look at the season that was 2007:

Milestones:

  • Barry Bonds hits 756 to pass The Hammer. Although, Hank is still number one in my book.
  • Sammy Sosa cracks career homerun 600 against his former Cubbies.
  • A-Rod hits an A-Bomb for career homerun 500.

Thomas
Frank Thomas goes yard in Toronto for his 500th.

Pitching Milestones:

Tom Terrific
Ol' lefty, Tom Glavine earns his 300th win at historic Wrigley Field.

Hoffman
Trevor Hoffman celebrates his 500th career save to the sound track Hells Bells.

  • Roger Clemens' HGH use allows him to win his 350th game.
  • In just his second career start, rookie Clay Buchholz has his own late season surprise in no-hitting the Orioles.

The Rest:

Gil Meche and his new 5-year $55 million dollar contract defeat Boston 7-1 on opening day.

Texas 30

The Rangers score five runs in the fourth inning, nine runs in the sixth, ten in the eighth and six more in the ninth en route to a 30-3 win against Baltimore.

Junior
Seattle welcomes the return of Ken Griffey Jr. with three sell-outs and a standing ovation. Junior homers in Safeco.

Cal and Tony
Talk about good for baseball, Hall of Famers Cal Ripken Jr. and Tony Gywnn.

Biggio
Soon to be HOF Craig Biggio notches his 3,000th hit and then waives goodbye to the fans in Houston.

Rockies
Colorado captivate America's sports fans with its run to the World Series.

  • Boston keeps its curses in reverse by sweeping the over-matched Rockies.
