The Michigan Wolverines will enter 2008 off of my top 25 list for good reason: they are in disarray. Let's first start with Terrelle Pryor, or as "craigw99" from OSU boards says....
I don't know why but he makes a good point; that guy is not Terrelle Pryor. Do you know who else he is not?
First off cool image but whoever did it spelled Ryan Mallett's name wrong. Good stuff. Mallett was thought to be a top 5 QB in the nation, just like Terrelle Pryor. Now there latest guy to leave is starting center Justin Boren. Boren is a solid talent and had a bright future but abruptly quit and said Michigan did not have a family atmosphere. Boren's dad was a Wolverines. So was his mom. But now he's gone and all that is left is a young group of inexperience lineman. And who are they going to block for? Not Terrelle Pryor. His name is David Cone. Another guy to consider is Steven Threet who looks a little less pansie-esque. But to my understanding, neither is a good fit for Rich Rodriguez's spread-option and they make Ryan Mallett looks as fast as, um, Vince Young. For Anti-Michigan people, those are the good things. It is evident that without a line and a QB who man move around the pocket, Michigan could be in deep shit. Their defense will have to win games for them, which they will, likely enough to make a bowl game. I'm not predicting a Notre Dame Meltdown for the Wolverines. I just don't see it happening. Rich Rodriguez has overacheived everywhere he's been and has never had the overall talent he has at UM, albeit young and inexperienced. The image of Pryor winning games for Michigan in gritty fashion were only a pipe dream. It's no wonder that almost every analyst under the ESPN sun was smoking the Michigan DickRod at the thoughts of Pryor saving the day and renewing an OSU rivalry. But now the truth looks like 3 years of losing to Ohio State and struggling to win against Illinois, Wisconsin and 3 other Big Ten teams--at least. I'm excited to see their first game against Utah, which should be damn tough. Then in the 3rd game they play at Notre Dame, followed by Wisconsin and Illinois at home. I see 5-7 wins in their future. Anything less than 5 and something could seriously be amiss. Anything 7 and over and the critics can chill out for awhile.
