On Wednesday, March 26, 2008 the Bo Pelini Era will officially begin in Lincoln as the start of spring practice for the Nebraska Cornhuskers kicks off. One thing for certain is that Bo will not stand for any "off-the-field" hijinks on his watch. In Pelini's first 100 days (that was as of Monday March 10th) Pelini has been open and accessible to former and current players as well as appearing at many different events in the state. However what transpired this past weekend made it perfectly clear that if you "mess-up" you will pay the consequences for your actions. Case in point was the fact that two former players were penalized for events that occurred at a party this past Saturday.
Carl Nicks was banned from participating in today's (March 12, 2008) Pro day at Lincoln and has been banned from being around the program because of the bad example he set, Maurice Purify, may also be banned because of the party. Bo made it perfectly clear that "a zero-tolerance policy regarding alcohol and social responsibility is now in effect".
Pelini
stated that in team meetings "what happens in team meetings, stays in
the team meetings". But based on this new law that was laid down, it
doesn't take a frickin genius to figure out that this team meeting was
not full of "warm and fuzzes".
