{mosimage} For awhile now speculation has been rampant about why Devoe Torrence is losing his scholarship offer at Ohio State. The Canton South star transferred to Massillon for his senior season, home of Buckeye great Chris Spielman as discussed by Gus Garcia-Roberts (Waiting for the Ax). This just confirms what we have been hearing all along: the Massillon HS football team and Devoe Torrence have bigger things to worry about than D1 scholarships.

The bare details involve at least 14 males from the ages of 14-21 having sex with 3 girls whose oldest age is 14. It has been reported by the Massillon Independent that one girl was 11.

Here is a "telling" line from the Garcia-Roberts article:

The disaster began, the tale goes, when a boy met a girl at Whiskey Ranch — Massillon's version of Tequila Ranch, featuring $2 Miller Lites and a mechanical bull. On the night in question, the Ranch was hosting teen night.

The girl apparently claimed to be older than she was. The boy didn't press the issue. So the girl introduced him to two of her friends. The boy, it seems, introduced her to 13 of his.

Fast forward to his senior year at Massillon and Torrence was not meeting expectations. He played well but probably fair to say not consistently at all. Then the rumors started that he was involved in "something" that can't be discussed.

This situation gets a bit stickier for Ohio State when you consider Devoe's brother, Devon, is currently playing at OSU. Nobody is guilty by association in this case but it just goes to show how wide reaching of an affect this could have on the Ohio football scene.

What is not known yet is Torrence's involvement. Devoe was probably 17-18 at the time. Who was the ring leader? I don't need the answers, I just know the questions need to be addressed. Regardless, Torrence and his friends could be in some serious trouble beyond the football field.

If there is one gaping hole in Ohio State's recruiting class it is at Running Back. Torrence was once ranked as a top 5 RB by Scout.com and has now dropped. Nobody would test as well at camps as Torrence and he has pretty much been labeled as a bigger, stronger version of his brother, who doubles as a baseball prospect.
