{mosimage}All the talk coming into Sunday centered around the perfect Super Bowl game for Brett Favre against the giants of the NFL, New England. As it turns out the Packers could not clinch the NFC title versus the piping hot (despite sub zero temperatures) New York Giants who have won 10 straight road games. The end result will send the younger Manning, Eli to the Super Duper Bowl and not the 38 year old Brett Favre. As much as the entire country wanted Favre to win, he and his team looked inferior to Manning and the Giants. That's not to say it was not a hell of a game. New York had 116 more total yards, 106 more rushing yards, over 17 minutes of posession more than Green Bay and a better team. Despite the numbers, it was not until a 47 yard field goal by Lawrence Tynes in overtime that the Giants cemented the above facts. Tynes had missed two field goals in regulation that would have been go ahead scores but missed. Tom Coughlin looks like a genius right now. In the final regular season game, which was meaningless in terms of playoff positioning, the Giants brough the house against the Patriots trying to knock them off of their undefeated pedestal. They looked like a legit contender despite a 3 point loss and while moral victories are for losers, this one is now looking like a strategic chess move. The Giants looked awesome and New England looked beatable. This is truly the best Super Bowl game possible. The Patriots toyed with a feisty San Diego Chargers team and prevailed in typical, boring fashion. The Patriots have clearly mastered the dink and dunk passing game. Their defense is solid and experienced. They have many options and someone always emerges big. Tom Brady actually struggled throwing 3 INTs, something he'd better avoid in the Super Bowl but right now they've simply been on cruise control through the playoffs. Better than Peyton? I've never given Eli much credit, just on the grounds that he looks like alter boy, not a NFL quarterback. Well, I don't care if Brett Favre can beat him up in a street fight, I care more that Eli can throw an out harder and sharper than Favre can dream at this point in his career. Plaxico Burress give Manning a top notch first down/td/yardage/big play machine. The Giants defense is simply tough as nails, beginning on the D-Line. My early prognosis is that the Patriots should be the favorites. Still, if they come into the gave thinking they deserve, or have earned anything they could get popped in the mouth. The Giants are physical in every aspect of the game and I can't wait for a great Super Bowl.
