{mosimage} Dicky V, the man formerly known as Dick Vitale, is back again soon...baby!
To all you Dicky V haters, you are all a bunch of diaper dandies. None of you know what you are talking about. I mean, C'mon, what's not to love about his game? He can dish it to his sidekick for the friendly assist and you know he can deliver big time when the booth needs a quck pick-me-up. The guy is Phenomenal with a capital "P". Oh, let me add another thing, the "jump ball" system in college is ridiculous. Let 'em jump for it. Are you serious man!!!!
Ah yes, the voice of college basketball is returning and this fan could not be any happier about it. At 68, Vitale is recovering after treating non-cancerous lesions on his vocal chords. He is quoted on ESPN as saying, "I was in tears when he asked me to speak my first words since the surgery," Vitale wrote in a letter to fans. "Believe me, it was very difficult to go 3½ weeks without speaking! When he had me count to 10, I was so relieved." He will first return to the "Mike & Mike in the Morning" show on Feb. 4 and plans to call his first game on Feb. 6 between Duke and North Carolina.
Rumor has it that Duke Head Coach Mike Krzyzewski plans on massaging Vitales vocal chords with his tongue immediately following the game. Vitale has long been labeled as a Duke homer, which if you ever listened to him it's hard to argue that point. He's also been labeled annoying, loud and obnoxious. Check, check and check. But still, Dicky V is the man and one of a kind. You know it's time for March Madness when Dick Vitale turns it up a notch. You officially know football season is over when you've got Dicky V ringing in your ear. Kudos to Vitale on a quick recovery. I'm looking forward to you broadcasting a game and for someone to tell me to turn the tv down. I put the V-maestro in the same category as John Madden and Keith Jackson; legends. People that hate these guys love to hate them. People that love them usually understand that they are the voice to follow for their respective sports.
