{mosimage} Per the Columbus Dispatch it is now official that Donald Washington is eligible for the LSU game. Whether you like Washington or not, the thought of facing LSU's array of receivers without one of your starting corners causes flashbacks to a year ago when Florida abused Jamario O'Neil who replaced the injuried Anderson Russell at safety. We don't know what Washington did to get himself in trouble or even if anything happenned at all, but we do know he has practiced and is eligible. We are of the opinion that something did take place. Too much smoke out there. There had to be some type of fire. We are of the opinion that the Jim Tressel doghouse is not a place you want to be so we will watch to see if there are any future developments. As an aside, it does put a coach in a hell of a spot to on one hand have a situation that warrants consequences and on the other hand have a national championship game to play. 2008 football recruiting is anything but done, but we believe 2009 recruiting is worth mentioning now. Per Bucknuts Coach Tressel received a wonderful Christmas gift in the form of a verbal commit from Ohio DT/DE prospect Johnny Simon. Simon joins previous verbal commits, LB's Storm Klein and Jordan Whiting. Simon is an important commit as he is expected to be one of the very best defensive linemen in high school ball next year in the country. Obviously that is important and significant in itself. We also suspect that the OSU staff is pretty happy with the way recruiting has gone this year with Michael Brewster and other recruits instumental in rounding out the class. Could Simon be the lynchpin type of recruit to play the "Brewster" role in 2009? Our guess is yep, and it should be interesting to watch. Kind of hard to know exactly where the Bucks stand with 2009 instate offers, but it appears DE and Illinois verbal Melvin Fellows has been offered as has OL recruit Jack Mewhort. Mike Murrow has attended an OSU bowl practice and is quoted on Bucknuts as saying he is our #1 fullback prospect. Adam Homan is another recruit to watch. Adam is a LB/FB type of recruit and the brother of Ross Homan. Homan is the #8 scout.com rated MLB. We would not expect much suspense in the Homan recruiting as he hails from an area of Ohio from which this author hails and you do bleed the appropriate colors if you are raised in the Coldwater/St. Henry area of Ohio.
