{mosimage}Petros' seething hatred for all things Big Ten makes him look like a hack on FSN.
As one of Fox Sports Net's lead analysts, former USC player (and current unabashed USC fan) Petros Papadakis gets a paid a ton of money to, well, actually analyze the games. But when the FSN studio hosts threw it over to him on their college bowl special the other day, Petros decided instead to show off what a hack he really is.
"The
bottom line with this game is that it's the SEC vs. the Big Ten,"
Petros said, and I'm paraphrasing here. "This game has blowout written
all over it. It seems every single year the Big Ten sends someone to
the title game like a sacrifice in a funeral pyre." And with that, Papadakis bowed his head and basically stopped looking at the camera. He was done. It was essentially a big F-you to fans of Big Ten football and a shining example of Papadakis' arrogance. But really, what exactly did he base that last statement off of? The Big Ten has played in three games in the past ten years with national titles on the line: 1997 when Michigan beat Washington State in the Rose Bowl, 2002 when Ohio State beat Miami in the Fiesta Bowl, and last year obviously when Florida blew out OSU in the BCS Title Game.
Three title game
appearances (if you count UM in 1997) hardly counts as "every year." Of
course, this smacks of the same logic people used last year when the
Big Ten won 2 of 3 bowl games against the SEC yet all anyone said was
the Big Ten is too slow to compete in the SEC.

Ignorance is everywhere. I'm willing to bet this guy does not watch many, if any, Big 10 games. Ratings are everything. If you are a former player with minimal journalistic (on air) talent than this is what you get. Just another guy rubbing his Johnson, saying dumb things and getting away with it. But hey, he was once a lousy player for USC so I guess he's more qualified than me or you to make baseless accusations without a hint of research....on a national network. Just another day in the office. |

Nick, Good article and observations. Is the SEC over-hyped? Probably so. However, there’s no arguing that this conference is loaded with some of the best athletes in all of college football. More specifically, I believe the SEC has the most blue-chip players of any conference. And, by this I mean players with size, unmatched speed, quickness and strength. Sure, there’s an Adrian Peterson here, a Vince Young there in a Big 12 conference but, in the SEC players of this caliber seem to be everywhere. Of course, this doesn’t mean conferences such as the Big Ten should be discredited when it comes to evaluating bowl victories against SEC opponents. On the other hand, the numbers speak for themselves. Ohio State’s Bowl Record against the SEC…(0- •2007 Lost to Florida, 41-14 •2002 Lost to S. Carolina, 31-28 •2001 Lost to S. Carolina, 24-7 •1996 Lost to Tennessee, 20-14 •1995 Lost to Alabama 24-17 •1993 Lost to Georgia, 21-14 •1990 Lost to Auburn, 31-14 •1978 Lost to Alabama, 35-6 Here’s the bottom line for conferences other than the SEC. If you want to be respected as an equal to the SEC, win some big games against them. |

Yeah....OSU's record was bad in bowl games during the Cooper years. It's a fact. OSU also has more NFL players than any other SEC school. That's a fact too. The closer the title game gets the more confident I am. And yeah, I think Michigan has won 5 of 6 against the SEC. Nick would know better than me. The Big Ten has a better record against the SEC in the last 5 years too. Overall, the SEC has more NFL players than any other conference but they also have more teams than the Big Ten. If you go by NFL players per team, they are nearly dead even. So, add that all up and I'm telling you the SEC kool-aid will spoil anytime now. |

Hey man, I live and write in the LA area and let me tell you know that Petros isn't worth the headache. FSN and ESPN Los Angeles love to hire old SC players to spread ignorance and hate. All you can do is keep putting out quality and try to get noticed for your own face time. Then use your face time to tell the world that Petros is a cuntface fucktard. I found your article through the Morning Bark sent to me by Yarkbarker Network NG |

| You're just afraid of an ex-player with real media talent that speaks the truth. Hurling insults at a guy that knows how to analyze football won't get you a job with Fox. On the contrary, it just makes you look stupid on your little blog. Specifically, I would say it makes you look like a "cuntface fucktard." | |

I want to say that Petros is a good guy and a good TV personality and I certainly respect all ex-college players. I was mainly targeting his argument not Petros himself with this article but in the blog world controversy sells so the title is a bit extreme. Anyway, the guy who responded above me is a little harsh but I kinda see where he's coming from. Anyway, keep it civil because there's nothing worse than e-tough guy Internet arguments. |
