One local reporter seems to think it's almost a done deal.
For all the Michigan fans who've been clamoring for a more exciting offense, this might be the best news they've heard in years. Detroit Free Press reporter Michael Rosenberg, who's somewhat of a Michigan insider, reportedly went on the radio in Morgantown, West Virginia to discuss the possibility of Rich Rodriguez packing up and bringing his spread offense to Ann Arbor for 2008. Rodriguez has been quiet about possible rumors that he's been in talks with Michigan but he and Michigan's administrators reportedly met in Toledo, Ohio recently to discuss the head coaching job. Rodriguez previously was almost gone to Alabama last off-season before deciding to stick with the Mountaineers but decided to stay. He seemed extremely dejected after WVU's loss to Pittsburgh on the last day of the regular season because he knew his team had blown a golden opportunity to get to the BCS title game that he had been working so hard for. Perhpaps Rodriguez knows he will have a hard time getting his team back to that position in the future since WVU is a tough place to recruit at and players like Steve Slaton and Pat White don't go through Morgantown very often.
