{mosimage} There have been some crazy happenings in the college football world and it is now time to scrape out some of my thoughts from the weekend moving forward.
Pitt vs. West Virginia Refs It is worth noting that the FIX WAS IN by one or more Big East refs in the hopes that West Virginia could make it to the BCS Championship. 2 phantom holds in all were called, one on a game clenching touchdown that then resulted in 0 points and one on a first down. Both calls (on WR Oderick Turner) brought back great runs by star RB LeSean McCoy. I've never really seen anything like it. Taking into account the possible holds I see on 50% of the plays I see, it was really amazing that 2 potential game-changing calls were made without reason. Despite this and other poor officiating, Pitt still won. Their offensive and defensive line dictated everything about the game and WVU's speed was caged. Had West Virginia won, I think voters still would have had a hard time voting them in. Whoever made those calls should be fired immediately for not allowing WVU to win--by whoever paid him. Although, it the ref's defense, he tried his best. Oklahoma vs. Missouri I went all in with my remaining flow from the BetUS.com podcast contest freeplay money. I doubled up. A dominant Sooner team prevailed. Missouri gets screwed out of a BCS game. Now they will have to get ready for Darren McFadden and Arkansas. Politics as usual It was funny to hear the different coaches giving reasons why their team should be in the BCS title game. Pete Carrol said his team was playing great, while Bob Stoops noted his squad just be the #1 team by 21. Neither coach seemed all that thrilled about pleading their case, but both did it. Les Miles=Elmer Fudd I heard this comparison on a message board and something clicked. While other coaches talked about their teams and a title shot, Les Miles far exceeded the other trupeting. His attitude, language, character and attitude is comical. His press conferences and half-truths are also comical. He calls himself a Michigan man, but he is looking like a real douchebag to me. Heisman Winner Tebow or McFadden; who to vote for? I'm torn, but I guess I give the edge to Tebow. Tough call though. What is not a tough call is a Kevin Smith screw job. He needed more love, but when you play better at the end of the year, rather than the beginning, Heisman hype does not mean as much. He now sits at #2 on the single season record list, only trailing Barry Sander by 180 yards. He averages 188 years a game. He just passed Marcus Allen on the yards list, and passed him too for the all-time record for carries in a season. Right now he has 2,448 yards on the season. And yeah, UCF just won the CUSA title. Bowl Podcast Special We will keep the NCAA Football Podcasts going through Bowl Season.
