{mosimage}Saturday Night, December 1, 2007 Word from several sources including the Omaha World Herald, , Baton Rouge Advocate, and the Lincoln Journal Star are all reporting that Bo Pelini 39 years old and currently the Defensive Coordinator of the LSU Tigers will accept Athletic Director Tom Osborne's offer to become the Nebraska Cornhuskers Head Coach.

According to LSU defenders Darry Beckwith and Kirston Pittman, Pelini told the team that coaching at Nebraska was his dream job.
Asked directly if he told the team he was leaving for Nebraska, Pittman said: “No, he didn’t say that. He did tell us it’s a dream job and the opportunity of a lifetime, and it’s something he’s never done before.”

Even though he only coached one year (2003) at Nebraska, Pelini quickly become a fan favorite, with his passion and desire, which he passed on to his players. In his only season at Lincoln he took a defense that had ranked 53rd nationally to one that led the country in pass defense, ranked second in scoring defense (14.5 points allowed per game) and 11th in total defense (297.2 yards per game). Then after Frank Solich was fired, he led the team to a 17-3 victory over Michigan in the Alamo Bowl. One of the Huskers from that defense Benard Thomas offered this view of how the players reacted to Pelini, "If Bo P. says to take you out, then I'm going to take you out." And that was in August.

Pelini will bring back the pasion to us fans that has been missing since he left when previous AD Steve Pederson, who was just rehired by the University of Pittsburg, decided that Bill Callahan was the man to lead the Huskers. Look for Bo to keep current offensive coordinator Shawn Watson as his coordinator, although he could go back to Oklahoma, where he was co-D-coordinator for one season for their current offensive coordinator and former quarterback Josh Heupel. Former Husker coach Marvin Sanders could be hired as defensive coordinator.

Ah all this is make this Bugeater a very happy Husker and wishing that Spring practice was here. BGR!!!

Yes I "know" "BO!" He was my pick 4 years ago and again this time around. He is a no-nonsense type of coach who will get down into the trenches with his players, which is why they will "go through walls" for him. I look to be back into the BCS hunt in 2 years. Next year will be a "turn-a-round" year where they will go 8-4, maybe 9-3, then LOOK OUT!. I am in "HEAVEN" right now with this hire. Watch for my final Bottom 10 either later today or first thing tomorrow. Have a New Number 1.
