{mosimage}So another number two ranked team has fallen after
second-ranked Oregon lost to unranked Arizona 34-24 last night in Tucson. I didn't see this one coming. Not for
a second. Sure, Oregon
was ranked in the "cursed number two" slot in the BCS standings, but I thought
they were different. In a college football season where the word "upset" has
become a weekly occurrence, I thought the Ducks were above all of that. They
were a team of destiny.
Well after last night's loss
that team of destiny is no longer dreaming of Waterford
crystal, but instead dreaming of making it to the Rose Bowl, where Arizona State,
not Oregon,
controls their own destiny. "The national
championship thing was fine while it lasted. The reality is we're still always
trying to get the conference championship and the very best bowl game," Oregon coach Mike
Bellotti said of the Rose Bowl. Oregon could
still land a BCS at-large berth, but it will definitely need some help from Arizona State if they want to be smelling roses
at the end of the season.

Great recap of the game. As discussed, I by no means predicted this would happen but was a little animated that it could happen. Dixon going down was the end of it. Considering you had a pro-Oregon article brewin' for some time, this one must have caught you by surprise. After all, you did rep them--beating out the great Mike Madden of the famed broadcastertraining.com. As far as digging on college players, I don't see anything wrong with it. But you just need to be intelligent not to dig on guys because they are not all-world or whatever. Leaf is a senior and nothing more than a backup, it pretty much goes without saying he is not as good as his brother. Some of this crap you read on forums and even columns, I guarantee these guys would not have the balls to say around the player or a teammate. And alot of the crap is grossly overstated and/or misinformed. Yeah, I'm talking to you 'bandit!!haha Not that I'm condemning people that do it but they just look dumb in my mind for doing it. Anyways, Oregon is done. Better luck next year. OSU is climbing up if they can beat Michigan. I'm already preparing my argument if the voting comes down to WVU and OSU for #2. |
