{mosimage} Barry Bonds has been indicted and we are all supposed to care; ESPN says so. Fuck ESPN and fuck our government for wasting everyone's time. And yeah, Bud Selig can go to hell too.
What were you thinking when you turned on Sportscenter and saw that Barry Bonds had been indicted by the feds? Was it, hell yeah, get that bastard...kill, kill, kill!? Was it sadness? Disappointment? Disgust? Or, was it like me...ah hell, here we go again. More Bullshit. More nonsense. More things to hear and read about endlessly that don't matter. I'm sorry, but we are lied to on the Federal level for much more severe things on a daily basis. Excuse my libertarian approach, but this is Major League Baseball's fault--not those who participated in the mess. Just a little background about myself: I support Barack Obama's "common sense" campaign. I believe those who won't elect him, and he likely won't beat out Hillary, because of his name are acting on inherit racism. I believe those who continually vote for the Bush/Clinton ticket name are sheep that are seriously killing all hope for a new America. I hope and worry whether or not American's will sniff the glue of change but I don't see it happening. I think our laws are completely bogus and imprison non-criminals. Especially our drug laws. To me it's common sense. But hell, the common sense campaign is coming across as idealistic ridiculousness, so America must disagree with me. For me, this really sucks. All of this ties into Barry Bonds and Baseball because as sports fans and Americans we will be forced to live and breathe Barry news for god knows how long. All because a corrupt government, a corrupt system and a league that had a really poor drug policy is forcing us to. And yes, ESPN, who will ride this out like they did with Maurice Clarret, Michael Vick, Terrelle Owens and O.J. "really freakin' weird" Simpson. They will pound the story into our skulls like an MMA fighter taking a forearm to the brain. This story represents all that we ignore. Now that the Feds are involved, it entails all that our government ignores. This is why I can't resist political trumpeting and anger. Take, for example, one of the only soldiers I've come to know. He recently went back to Iraq after a whirlwind return to the states. He is a cool kid, still sports an old Nirvana t-shirt from time-to-time and is readily available to talk about some fantasy football whenever you need to make conversation. He seems like a laid back, happy guy. He has told me though, after a few beers, that for a living he shoots people "in the face." He does not sound happy about it at all. I came to find out he has severe mental health issues. Less than a month before going back to Iraq he tried to commit suicide (slashed his wrist). Did this stop him from going to the Oil Tropicana? No. He went back for a 15 month stay, "2 weeks outside the fence and 1 week in." Maybe the Feds should worry about this kid and not Barry Bonds. I feel so anti-everything these days that I'm going to root hardcore for Bonds. Hell, maybe I'll buy his bobble-head, a jersey or even a fathead picture of him. Mostly out of spite to all of the suits that say we should hate this cheater. Should we also hate Mike Golich, who recently confessed to using steroids in the 80's? That sucks because I really enjoy Mike and Mike in the Morning (yes, on ESPN). Should I hate all of the other athletes that have been caught or alleged to have taken drugs by Jose "rat bastard" Canseco in a tell-all book? America is supposed to love a rat. But many of us hate them. I say we celebrate those who tell the government to screw off and mind their own damn business. I say we celebrate our heroes and make sure their past mistakes are not repeated. There are too many issues with the world today to worry about this nonsense. Let Bud Selig and his team of adwizards worry about Barry Bonds, his records and how THEY set up a corrupt system. This is our America, our sports stars and our records. Let us decide how they should be celebrated. I say we join together and tell THE MAN to fuck off. I know I will.
