Based on some prodding by JEH45, I decided to look at what I predicted for the Big 12 back in July, now that we are getting ready to start the conference schedule. I might just have to pat myself on the back for my "over-all" insight into this conference. Let's see just what I predicted and what has happened. Big 12 North
My predictions for the North was as follow with the conference record in parenthesis.
Well Missouri is currently 4-0, the Huskers are 3-1 and will meet October 6, 2007. The Huskers have been very weak defensively and about what I predicted on offense. Pretty much a "carbon-copy" explanation for Missouri also. Their match-up may decide the North, but I still feel that Missouri has a bit harder conference schedule, with October bringing not only the Huskers, but also Oklahoma and Texas Tech in 3 consecutive weeks. Because of this, l still have to go the Huskers way, but it might be 6-2 to 5-3 instead for the conference records for both. Kansas is 4-0, but not a real surprise, I still see a 4-4-conference record for them, but since they swept their non-conference games they will be looking at an 8-win season and a little better bowl game. I believe I am right on in regard to the other 3 teams, although Colorado could win 3 games instead of just 2. Big 12 South: For the South my predictions were:
For the record I still believe that Texas and Oklahoma will both get the records I have predicted, although it would not surprise me in the least if Oklahoma runs the table and goes 12-0. That being said, I truly believe that Oklahoma will utterly destroy Texas in the Cotton Bowl and will win the Big 12 South instead of Texas, who seems to have Barry Switzer as their head recruiter. Baylor is a little better than I expected by maybe 1 win to go 4-8. I still believe that A & M will implode once the conference (or is it regular season coach Fran?) play begins. Texas Tech and Oklahoma State may flip-flop positions, but other than that, things look about like I predicted back in July. Bugeater is OUT!
