{mosimage}I like to think of myself as a
"visionary," though other people might call me by some more colorful
names. As a visionary, I often like to propose ideas whose time will
soon be at hand. For example, we have a Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton Ohio,
but what we don't have, and what we now need, is a "Pro Football Hall
of Shame." That's right, this day and age a Hall of Fame is not enough,
we need a Hall of Shame to highlight the achievements of the more
infamous members of professional football. I thus propose that the
writers of DeathRattleSports.com join together and form the backbone of
an electoral group that will make this dream a reality. Perhaps a
sacred section of DeathRattleSports.com can be reserved to enshrine and
honor such players.
The guidelines for induction are as follows: To be consider for membership, a player "must have played at least a year of professional football, and acted in a way as to defame the professional league he plays for, by conducted deemed criminal, immoral, or just plain stupid." Without further ado, I present to the writers, the 2007 Inaugural Class for your consideration. Michael Vick:
Michael is almost a shoe in as a charter member. Vick is a former NFL first pick over all, whose personal issues, attitude, criminal actions and plain stupidity are unparallel in league history. This former Atlanta Falcon starting quarterback with a penchant for dog fighting, might be doing some time behind bars shortly. O.J. Simpson: This year Simpson, who more than a decade ago beat a double murder rap, is back in the news after a bizarre robbery story in Vegas. Aside from everything else, Simpson proves there is no statue of limitations on stupidity. Also, shame on him for destroying my childhood memories of a great NFL running back; one of my earliest memories of the game was seeing him break Jim Browns single season rushing record in 1973. Ricky Williams: Ricky Williams, the career that could have been. Two franchises gambled on this highly talented head case, and each is probably still sorry that they did. While Williams was a top flight running back on the field, his off the field involvement with drugs has probably cost him a lucrative pro career. Even if he were to clean up his act, at this stage, what team would gamble on him? Veterans Committee Selection: Art Schlichter: The former Ohio State great, and Colt first round selection back in 1984, paralleled a gambling addiction into theft and 10 years worth of prison time. Art who played in the NFL, CFL and later the Arena Football League (Where he was MVP one season), is said to be on his road to recovery. Still, he deserves selection to the Hall by the Veterans Committee. The Hall is open to further nominees and this article will be updated to make room for more possible selections.

Lloyd's Great comment on the "Bong shop" although I believe that the "politically correct" term is or would be the "Local 420" stop, or simply "Head Shop". After all cannabis is the "root" of all evil, I know this because I watched Reefer Madness this past weekend and you go CRAZY and commit murder and suicide when you smoke DOPE! But that is a GREAT suggestion on how Michael could finally pass a test!!! I guess he lost his subscription to HIGH TIMES.. |
