Well now it is on to our first road game of the season, against the defending ACC champions Wake Forrest, who took it on the chin last Saturday against fellow ACC foe, Boston College and in the process gave up more than 400 yards passing in a 38-28 loss. The Demon Deacons also lost their starting quarterback and top defensive end in this game and are very doubtful for Saturday's match-up against the Huskers. On the Huskers side of the ball, Marlon Lucky's 233 rushing performance was awarded both the Big 12 offensive player of the week, as well as the Walter Camp National Player of the Week accolades for his effort. In the Nevada game the offense basically just wore down the Wolf pack defense by pounding the ball play after play, to the tune of 14 straight carries at one point in the 2nd quarter. By all accounts, the Demon Deacons will not be so easy to run against on Saturday, as Boston College was only able to gain 54 yards on the ground against them. According to Coach Callahan, Wake will likely put 6 to 7 players in the box. If this is the case, then look for Sam Keller to be able to show his stuff through the air.The aerial attack will be bolstered with the return of Marcus Purify at receiver. Purify was out for the Nevada game due to a suspension and death of his brother and is anxious to get into the action. Purify will help in the receiving corps because of the drops we had by our receivers by Frantz and Nunn, and a perfect TD strike dropped by fullback Thomas Lawson. I also think that another week of practice, coupled with film review will allow Sam Keller to settle down and be ready for a big game if the running attack is stalled. I think that Keller will have a big day, at least 250 yards passing, and then I believe that the ability to pass the ball will in turn give the running game the opening to thrive. I see the Huskers prevailing by the score 37-17.
