Ohio State took care of game #1 and Youngstown State. Todd Boeckman
began the post Troy Smith era and seemed to aquit himself well. Word of
qualification here.
I had to watch the game at the Jensen Alehouse, Jensen Beach, Florida-no sound and a million TV's, so I'm not sure what I saw. What I think I saw was a QB who went through his progressions, delivered the ball, without glaring mistakes. Primary target was Robinske, and Todd needs to spread the ball around more, but Robinske worked. Some routes seemed to take a while to develop, so Boeckman, under more pressure, will be something to watch. Offensive line play sucked. One of the real surprises. Lets see what happens over the next few weeks. When the offensive line sucks it is reasonable that the backs would suck and to a degree they did. Saine will continue to play. Mo Wells was in the game plan. When he had room, he produced. When he needed to break a tackle, he didn't. Beanie Wells was MIA-go figure. On the other side of the ball, the DB's seemed to perform well. The only other defensive player that stood out to me was Lawrence Wilson, and he broke his leg. I didn't see the rest of the Dline or linebackers take control. I wish I would have seen more. Bottom line is we won. Most importantly, Boeckman looked like a QB. Thankfully, our MO under coach Tressel, we improve. We need to improve. Many players got their feet wet. Plenty of coaching to do this week. It will be interesting to see how the team reponds week one to week two.
