In May Kyle Long announced his decision to play college baseball for Florida State. Kyle is the son of Howie Long and a young man with multiple options for his future. Young Long is 6'7", lefthanded and a pitcher/first baseman prospect. In football he is a 3 star Scout.com prospect and rated by Scout as the 38th best OT prospect nationally. In baseball he expected to have lofty draft status-real surprised aren't you-a 6'7" lefthanded pitcher. So there you go. A young man, whose father has been successful, probably doesn't need to make his decision because a monetary need. Does he hone his baseball skills with FSU for a year or so before cashing in? Is it possible that the boy has inherited his father's passion for football and he, for now would say no to baseball and the majors? We thought this decision between football and baseball was made in May leaving only the thought of college vs. majors. Now we are not so sure and suggest we all watch this play out. All of our children should have such problems and choices.
