{mosimage}In an eerie, almost cosmic type of happening, Bill Callahan today, August 20, 2007 named Arizona transfer Sam Keller as the 2007 starting quarterback at the University of Nebraska.
It was exactly 1 year ago today, August 20, 2006 when Arizona State University was giving Keller his release and telling former coach Dirk Koetter that he was gone. That time it was about being devastated and confused and not knowing where he was going next. Now exactly one year later in Lincoln Nebraska, Keller was talking about a brand new opportunity. About being humbled and honored and ready to go. "What a difference a Year Makes".
All five NU quarterbacks were told where they stand during short meetings with Callahan on Monday afternoon. It was just last week when Callahan had stated that he would not being naming a starting quarterback until a week before the opening game against Nevada. My thought is, that it was just becoming to be of a distraction, and this way the players, coaches and media can now get on with the business at hand of preparing for the game and all the other stuff will take care of itself. Way to go Keller and GBR!!!

| Sam Keller is going to have a great year. I remember how intesnse the battle for the starting job was at Arizona State, when Keller was named the starter one day then a few days later Koetter named Carpenter as the starter. I like Rudy Carpenter alot and didn't question the pick. Both are great quarterbacks and I think both will have great seasons this year. | |

| To me it has always been interesting to watch how some players get multiple chances, whereas others may only get one chance. A injury or whatever, someone else steps up and your shot is gone. Every so often you will see a player who at least had enough talent to get drafted into the NFL who didn't start for his college team. Sam Keller is getting a chance to play some ball his last year. Congrats to him. Probably wouldn't have paid any attention to him, but since I've been educated I will look forward to how his year progresses. | |
