Injuries as of 8/15/07
Injuries are as follows: 1. Ray Small- ankle/day to day 2. Blankenship-sprained ankle/day to day 3. Curtis Terry-sprained ankle/to be evaluated this week 4. Skinner-knee sprain/ expected back two or three weeks into the season 5. Mitchum-broken bones in foot/ expected back two or three weeks into the season 6. Andre Amos-likely out for the season. Comments: 1. Ray Small needs to be healthy, get his practice time. Very high hopes for Small. I haven't seen much and am of the opinion Ray needs to be practicing. 2. Andre Amos- Bad deal for Andre and for the team. We enter the season comfortable with Jenkins as a lockdown corner and future NFL'er. I'm not sure at what level Washington will perform, but would expect to see him tested a bunch. Amos certainly would be battling Washington for time. Now we have zero experience backing up our two corners. We hope in the early season the backups get many game reps. We also will be watching to see if true freshman Eugene Clifford gets into the mix. Depth is a real issue. Someone should have the opportunity to step up. 3. Mitchum and Skinner- Again, can't like the depth situation in the Oline. People seem to be happy they will be back. I understand both of these guys have been around for awhile, but it can't help for these two to be missing fall camp and a part of the season. Again, their absence creates opporunity for others to step up and our team will need some stepping up from the second team before this season is over. As with the DB's, we hope the early games see game reps going to the second teamers. We Know Ray Small can recover....eventually (Dominic Jones drilling Small video) {youtube}GtmAKIz4x-Q{/youtube}

Glad to see Small is ok. I read he got carried off at a recent practice and rumors were it may be a knee. The DB's were depleted last year, especially after starter Anderson Russel went down. O'Neal never looked like a "ready" replacement and he was injured at the end of the year. Or as I was told from people at the Fiesta Bowl, "he ran around like he had a corncob up his ass." |
