Mark us down in the we will be fine in the Dline and linebackers category. Of course, as in any position, injuries can hurt, but we finnish the first week of camp optimistic not only with the starters, but with a fair number of subs that we believe can, and given a chance will make plays. It bears repeating that with the early schedule we hope continuity, and stats play second fiddle to getting multiple bodies onto the field. Get the boys some experience, lets see what they can do. We will be relying on some of these subs by November. We are hoping to see massive substitutions on defense early in the season. No one seems to be concerned about our running backs and neither are we. Well, that is crap, if Chris Wells goes down we are screwed. Speaking about Beannie, we have said it before, and will say it again. We hope Beannie's stats early in the season are sacrificed to keep him fresh and to give others PT. I am a Maurice Wells fan. Not that I know him to be a great running back, but I like the guy. Early in the season I would rather see Maurice get 10 plus carries a game than Beannie get 25 plus carries p/game. Rumblings are Brandon Saine will not redshirt and again, if he is going to be meaningful in the bacjfield this year he will need to see gametime early. Fullbacks, they are going to block. We would be surprised to see any expansion of their role. Tightends, again we anticipate no real expansion of their role. They were competent last year and expect them to be the same this year. The unknown to us is Jake Ballard. If the TE role is expanded this year we believe it will be to take advatage of skills Ballard brings to the table. QBs-see other article. Coach Tressel wants a QB to play within the system, know the system, and not make mistakes. We see that in Boeckman. Our opinion is that if Boeckman doesn't win the position for non injury related reasons it will be because someone else has shown he will be a dam good QB. Opinions are like assholes. Everyone has one. This is ours after week one of camp. We will enjoy coming back here during the season to see if we know shit about what we are talking about.
