In a published report from the Houston Chronicle, Texas freshman defensive tackle Andre Jones has turned himself into Austin authorities on a felony aggravated robbery charge. Jones was recruited last season from El Paso Andress High School. Jones, who turns 18 today, August 3, 2007 is charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon, a first-degree felony, APD spokeswoman Laura Albrecht said. Bail has been set at $40,000. He was wanted in connection with a July 27 robbery that involved former UT football player Robert Joseph is a sophomore from Houston Memorial High School was released from the team in June and has been in jail in Austin from another incident.Jones and Joseph are accused of entering an apartment in southeast Austin and threatening several people, including a 14-year-old, according to the arrest warrant. Joseph allegedly displayed a weapon. Jones did not, but he made threatening remarks that suggested he might, Albrecht said. Items stolen included cash, video game equipment and cell phones.
