On Friday afternoon August 3, 2007, NU snagged a nationally recognized running back recruit as Jonas Gray of Southfield, Mich., spurned instate Michigan and Michigan State, plus Louisville and national-champ Florida for the Huskers. It appears that Gray will be the player to step in and take Marlon Lucky’s place after next season.

Gray, a 5-foot-10, 213-pound senior at Country Day High School in suburban Detroit, ranks as the No. 4 player at his position by rivals.com and the No. 1 prospect in Michigan.

He visited Nebraska last month, driving 12 hours to Lincoln, he said, and was swept up in the momentum of the NU recruiting class. The Huskers' commitment list includes 20 players – easily its biggest haul ever by August – and features offensive tackle Baker Steinkuehler of Lincoln Southwest, quarterbacks Blaine Gabbert of Ballwin, Mo., and now Gray as offensive cornerstones. Lets hope that when February rolls around all of the verbal commitments will sign their letter’s of intent.

	I saw this one coming. Michigan already has 2 RB commits this season, assuming McGuffie plays RB. Nebraska is doing very well.

	Gray will be a very good back, he ran a 4.39 or something at the Michigan camp yet is very powerful. But Michigan wanted McGuffie more and didn't offer Gray til late. MSU fans have to be about ready to jump off a bridge right now though

	On the Nebraska message boards, they seem to talk more about McGuffie than Gray on the Gray threads. He does not sound like any slouch but I guess since McGuffie is more of a local boy, it's understandable
