09/02/07

Kentucky native, Jordan Whiting became the Buckeyes first verbal commitment for the 2009 football class.

Jordan is a LB and apparently was told By Coach Tressel he could play any of the LB'er positions. As we have reported before, look for Whiting to be the first of what should be a very good linebacker haul for the Bucks in 2009.

08/29/07

As reported in the Storm Klein profile it is rumored that both Storm and Jordan will receive official offers to play for the Buckeyes, the offers beng tendered on 09/01/07. The rumors further are that both will be issuing their verbals to the Buckeyes. It is further said that both expressed a willingness to hold off on their verbals if early verbals would hurt the 2008 recruiting class, but each were told by Coach Tressel to go ahead and issue their verbals. We shall see.

Interview with Jordan Whiting per BuckeyePlanet Straight 6
8-5-07

Recently, we caught up with 2009 linebacker prospect Jordan Whiting from Louisville (Kentucky) Trinity. At this early stage, Jordan is one of the top junior linebackers in the country. Here's what Jordan had to say about a number of topics, including Buckeye football:

1. Which schools are you most interested in? Do you have a "dream school"?

The schools I am most interested in are; Ohio State University (Definitely), University of Tennessee, and Notre Dame. My "Dream School" is Ohio State University every since I was in the 8th grade.

2. When you think of Ohio State football, what comes to mind?

When I think of THE Ohio State University I think of a highly successful school in academics as well as athletics.

3. What goals have you set for yourself personally and for your team this season?

Personally I have set the goal to average 10 tackles, 2 sacks, and 2 interceptions a game this season. As for my team, I have set the ultimate goal of helping my team go undefeated and winning our 18th State Championship.

4. When your career is over, how would you like people to remember Jordan Whiting?

I would like to be remembered as the meanest guy on the field and the biggest Teddy Bear off the field.

5. Who are some of your favorite football players, either college or pro? Do you have any particular role models on the football field?

A.J. Hawk and Ray Lewis are my favorite football players because of their nose for the ball and their attitudes on and off the field.

6. Is there anything else that you'd like to tell us about Jordan Whiting?

I love kids and helping those in need. I've been raised to stay humble and realize that my God given talent can be taken away at any time. I also realize the importance of education which is quite evident of my 3.87 GPA.Thank you for giving me the opportunity to have this interview and I thank you for your support.

DeathRattleSports Analyses: Gotta like Ohio State's odds in landing this phenomenal talent.

Hey Yo: Word from Buckeye land is he tore it up at our camp this year and earned a full ride offer. You know the guy. Anything you can tell us about him. Also, if you could let us know how he does as the year starts, we would appreciate it.

Its probably just me, but here we have people who know a recruit and say "great guy" and "does very well in the classroom". On the other hand we see pictures on the net of Iowa players holding bottles of Grey Goose and wads of cash. I guess it takes all kinds. Would appreciate updates on Jordan as his season progresses. Sounds like a guy to root for.

Saw Jordan Whiting play on the tube last evenning. Trinity vs St X. Awesome game that trinity won in OT after tying it up with about 30 seconds left in regulation. I am not an evaluator of talent, and did not watch the entire game, but I didn't see jordan make any plays. The opposite-I saw plays he didn't make. wondering if any of you saw the game and could share your thoughts?
