Mammoth tight end was first commit of a strong Ohio duo at the position for the Wolverines, picking UM over several SEC powers. Did I mention his incredible measurables (6'6, 245, 4.2)? The transition from the high school gridiron to the college one is always an unknown, but one thing's for sure with Brandon Moore: he has pretty much all the measurables to be a very good tight end.Of course, the latter number in the lead refers to his grade-point average, not his 40 time. Who knows how the his smarts will help him on the football field, but it sure can't hurt him when it comes to things like picking up the playbook and learning the college game. His size is also a major plus at 6'6, 245 pounds. As for his physical abilities, Moore projects as an old-school tight end with a little bit of new-school flavor to his game. He and fellow Ohioan 2008 commit Kevin Koger should help make the tight end position a major strength for Michigan in the near future. Moore has the bulk to be a very good blocker yet also has some of the great athletic traits that the new-wave tight ends like Antonio Gates and Kellen Winslow possess. He will need to drop some fat and get stronger to be a better blocker, however, but he definitely has the frame to be a great one in that area if he focuses and works hard. He could be an immediate red zone weapon for UM when he arrives in 2008 as well, if he can beat out players like Martell Webb, Toney Clemons, and Adrian Arrington if he's still around for that role, that is. It seems like Michigan actively pursues wide receivers with the hands and body control to make spectacular catches (see Braylon Edwards, Marquise Walker, Arrington, and Desmond Howard), and Moore definitely has that kind of ability. He plucks the ball out of the air with ease and is adept at making tough catches in traffic, even one-handers. Moore is rated as a top ten prospect in a loaded tight end class for 2008 despite not putting up huge numbers last season. With a big year in the stat department in 2007 he could very well move up the charts by the time the final rankings come out.
