I don't know why I continue to provide updates regarding the mess at Penn State. The story continues to evolve. I guess I am waiting to see if
JoePa does anything. We have seen it before, the coach lets his star
athlete get away with crap for the sake of a win, or the coach imposes
discipline, angering the alumni and student body. Again, we shall see. Anyhow, the University has disciplined 10 football players arising out of the April 1st home invasion and smackdown. Due to confidentiality requirements names have not been released. Defense attorneys have publically indentified four of the football players.
Safety Anthony
Scirrotto and defensive lineman Chris Baker are still awaiting criminal
trial scheduled to begin in August. They have been expelled from school
from July 1 through the end of the summer semester in mid-August.
Suffering the same university expulsion are linebacker Jerome Hayes and
cornerback Lydell Sargeant. Although expelled from school, each player
is eligible to participate in fall camp commencing in early August.
What we do not know is whether or not these four are allowed to use the
Penn State facilities during their suspension. These four are required
to complete counseling and community service prior to the beginning of
fall semester. All four have been put on permanent university probation.
