Now that the NFL Draft is over and done with, it is fun to reflect
on the big stories that marked the annual event. This year, it was the
Teddy Ginn vs. Brady Quinn saga. This "story" shows that you don't need facts
or logic to reach conclusions, rather, you can just make shit up.
The factory began pumping out their annual bullshit. The wonder boy, former Notre Dame QB Brady Quinn, was stuck sitting in his lonely seat while the other lesser known guys got to hold up their new jerseys. Finally, the Dolphins with the 9th pick and a team who has been in desperate need for a quarterback since Marino SELECTS...Teddy Ginn. Oh my god! But Kiper thought they should have picked Quinn. So did Keyshawn Johnson. Awww shit, now that's a story. Hype it, hype it, hype it. Too bad Kiper and his posse looked even dumber when Picks 10-21 also passed on Quinn. This was a mute point, though, because they already had a story. The truth: The Dolphins would have fucked up by selecting Quinn at #9 when they could have traded down to #22 and still got him. Teddy Ginn is the fastest football player at Ohio State since Joey Galloway, who was the fastest in the NFL for awhile. Jim Tressel has stated that he has the best hands on the team. He does in fact have good hands. He has not has durability issues while at Ohio State. This past season, he broke his toe when he hit it on a door. His pinkie toe, if I recall correctly. Still, he never missed a game. Then, against UF he hurt his ankle after returning the opening kick for a touchdown. He missed the rest of the game and that's pretty much the only time he had missed due to injury while at Ohio State. He was the best punt and kick returner in the draft. He is also a top 5 receiver with a high ceiling for improvement. His route running needs to be improved. He is a more fluid, far less powerful Reggie Bush. Don't let the Facts get in the way None of this matters to the experts. Ohio State's offense was completely lost without Ginn in the championship game. Do any of you remember the pre-Ginn era. This is when tresselball was the most frustrating offense ever. Well, Ginn was the main catalyst in changing that. The night of the championship game, OSU's offense not only played without Ginn, but they also had forgotten Tressel ball because they never had to play by those rules. Tedd Ginn is that good. In ten years, let's all remember how stupid the experts really are.
