After wasting a healthy part of my life reading this 41 page pdf document outlining the various emails, text messages and phone calls that were relayed by Nutt and his gang of supporters--all I can say is WOWA-WEEWA! The following is my take on the situation as well as links to pictures of the phone call/text message/email data that has caused rabid speculation. If I were a t.v. drama writer trying to pitch this story to Hollywood, it would go like this:
The Star:
Setting: Head Coach Houston Nutt just had a couple bad seasons and was starting to feel heat from school boosters. Mitch wants to stay in his home state but does not really care for Coach Nutt or his offensive system that favors running backs (conflict). Mitch comes from an acclaimed high school that is known for an open, no-huddle spread offense run by Head Coach Gus Malzahn. Coach Nutt always called the offensive plays for Arkansas and that was something he loved doing. Many alumni feel that to bring Mitch to Arkansas, they need to hire Coach Malzahn as offensive coordinator (conflict). Coach Nutt at this point does not really care for Mustain and despite his talent wants to move on. The pressure is too intense, though, and he hires Coach Malzahn. Mustain decides to go to Arkansas. It turns out that Coach Malzahn did not get to have control of the offense. Arkansas has the best tailback in the nation and finishes with 10 wins. Despite Mustain starting 9 games and playing well for a freshman, he is unhappy. The season did not go as planned. Mustains Mommy often complains about Houston Nutt and the promises he failed to keep. Wins just won't cut it for the Mustain Duo. This leaves Arkansas fans divided as they all attempt to prove the other side as liars and frauds. Email, phone call and text-message records reveal secrets about Coach Nutts personal life. Highlighted by an affair between Coach Nutt and an anchor woman. After the first season Mustain will transfer to USC in L.A., which will cut down on production costs. Season 2 has yet to be written. Stay tuned. Oh, but the fun is just getting started... The gory details in the actual script makes this drama a hit, along with the likes of Law & Order and The West Wing. Here are some of the facts and accusations based on email, text message and phone call records that have created a sorted, dark and sometimes hilarious string of events:
Check out the exchanges between Prewett and the Nutt family around the time her emails were sent. Obviously, the Nutt family knew about the email exchanges. Hell, I'd imagine they helped write them. High-five!!!! An Affair to Forget? Accusations also have been swirling concerning a possible extramarital affair between Houston Nutt and Donna Bragg, a new anchor for KHBS in Northwest Arkansas. Houston Nutt's mother-in-law passed away on 12-7-06. The funeral was held 12-11-06 in Oklahoma. Houston Nutt had several commitment to the football team and could not make it the weekend prior to the funeral (funeral was on a Monday). His phone records indicate there could have been a little something "extra" going on. He calls her before and after calling a Springdale Holiday Inn on Saturday night. Around Christmas time there were many, many more exchanges between the two of them. Check out funeral & Christmas 'Love' Calls here (also included is a phone call to Bragg just before the Capital One Bowl, which I went to!) What to think Personally, I've always rooted for Nutt and Arkansas to take down the big boys of the SEC. He is a solid coach, in a quality system that right now has some absolute studs in the backfield. From a coaching standpoint Houston Nutt is as good as Arkansas is going to get. That's not a knock on their program, I think Nutt is good at what he does. Too bad that's not all it is about. Nutt lost control of his program by hiring Mustain's high school coach.Perhaps he had little choice, but if that were the case then he should have left and started somewhere new before the season started. As it stands, he has lost the trust of many Arkansas supporters and why he would want to stay is beyond me. Go find another job, Coach Nutt. And while your at it, come clean with your wife. That is, unless you want her to stay with you. As for Mustain and his mommy--Booooooooooo.....Boooooooooo........Booooooo.....and I'm not one to boo at athletes or their moms. I was, though, the punk-ass catcher on my little league team that would mock parents who were constantly bitching or yelling at an umpire. I've never met Mustain or his Mommy Mustain, but we all know your kind. You are the type of people who organize parent meetings behind a coach's back. Small towns see many star athletes but you are the ones everyone secretly roots against. Your breed sends long Christmas letters to everyone you barely know, detailing each family member in a slanted, self-rhiteous, perfect tone. People like you suck the fun out of coaching. Actually, people like you are the reason there are not as many quality teachers and coaches as there could be. Who the hell would ever want to deal with an angry parent who thinks their kid is perfect and does not know a damn thing about what they are talking about? For godsakes Mommy-the-Mitch, buy a fucking clue. Arkansas won 10 games. That is 6 more victories than the year before. They had a heisman runner-up runningback in Darren McFadden and you're pissed that Mitch did not throw the ball more -- as a freshman? The playbook changes when you want to give yourself the best chance to win. The running game is the foundation of football. Normally when a team has a freshman quarterback and heisman candidate at runningback, they will look to run first, pass second. This not only helps to win games but protect the quarterback as well. It's simple, really, with pretty much any Division 1 coach with a pulse utilizing these approaches. Players (moms) sound dumb and conceited when they complain during a winning season. Unless you play for Arkansas. Now it is Pete Carroll's turn to deal with the Mustain crew. USC has a load of QB's and nothing is guaranteed for Mitch. The kid must have loads of talent for USC to accept his transfer and hopefully for his sake he stays quiet and does what the coach tells him to do. Whatever happens, he'll need to remember to send daily postcards to mom, telling her to stay the hell away before she helps ruin everything....again.
